What is it about British talent shows that just seems to be that much more classy than their American counterparts? Okay, maybe its because the American ones are basically tarted up, massively overrated hugely underachieving copies of said British programmes. Which brings me to my musings for today: xfactor.
Have you seen it on youtube (http://www.youtube.com/user/TheXFactorUK) lately? Amazing. The people who come in to audition are predictably the usual suspects, ranging from tuneless and tone deaf muppets who think that just because "mummy says I can sing" means the entire world thinks so to0 to 40-somethings that make you think "Where on earth were you all this while?" when they sing. Some of them are that bad and that darn good (respectively of course).
Really, some of these guys and girls who audition really are unassuming people. These people who just speak one way and proceed to completely blow your sarongs off when they sing. And, and...they're genuinely interesting people. Some with stories which you could not possibly make up. Beautiful.
This show is the BOMB. I'm going out on a limb here.. Dear Astro, boot out American Idol and start bringing in Xfactor! You'd be doing the whole nation a favour.
